========Andy: It has been a few years since I worked this area but i wound
up with 2500 hrs of T-37 time over a 4 year period so I have some experience
in this area. I tend to agree with the concept that the student will not do
much for the CRM concept in the beginning....perhaps help like looking out
for other airplanes, noting problems in the instruments, being aware of
incorrect things on the preflight and even being encouraged to speak up and
ask the dumb questions, are areas that could be emphasized in the beginning.

However, I see the value in CRM education in this arena being in developing
a mindset for the new pilot...starting from the beginning is a real
opportunity to develop a good insight. Perhaps encouraging the Instructors
to promote the concepts of CRM should be the aim of your program...then when
they see the benefits and are comfortable with their new found knowledge I
think you will get more co-operation in the program. You might point out
that we have historically had more accidents when two instructors are flying
together than when they are flying with students...which can bring up some
interesting points on CRM issues.
