Hello everyone and Neil,

I think we are aware that quality of CRM training varies widely among
providers.

Here in the UK, the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAes), the Civil Aviation
Authority (CAA), and the Aviation Training Association (ATA) have
collaborated on a document for trainers to harmonise CRM training standards.

Titled "Guide to Perfomance Standards for Instructors of Crew Resource
Management Training in Commercial Aviation". It was produced in September
1998 and so may not be well circulated yet.

As the foreword states;

"The purpose of this Guide is to establish industry standards for trainer
performance in relation to CRM. It gives guidance and information to
operators, providers of CRM training and CRM instructors, on the necessary
standards of competance as well as on how to achieve these standards."

The guide is in four colour coded sections and spans 80 pages:

Part 1 Backgound & Overview
Part 2 Context 1: Aircraft, simulator & LOFT training
Part 2 Context 2: Base & Line Checks Instruction/Examination
Part 2 Context 3: Ground School / Classroom Instruction

This guide provides a definitive list of what the regulators consider is
required of a CRM training programme, and so allows providers to analyse
their own knowledge and perfomance. I would recommend it as checklist for
anyone involved in CRM training delivery.
