For example, in my research concerning gender differences in pilot crews, I
found one "problem" area is the use of language (given a common language).
Women generally are less comfortable with direct language which sounds like
giving orders; they prefer making suggestions. Even when suggestions must be
acted upon (e.g. the woman is the Captain), women will use qulifiers such as
"I would appreciate it if you would . . ."rather than "Do this or do that."
Women tend to develop rapport through language, rather than through action.
Perhaps some simple observations of cultural differences will give you
material to raise the levels of awareness among your crews.
