Well said Vince,
The AFRES CRM Unit Assistance Program emphasizes Mission Effectiveness.
Mishap prevention is a by-product and a desired result. When CRM is packaged
as a "bettter way to do business" crews respond. The "flight safety"
approach causes disconnect. "We would never do something like that mishap
crew did!" Smoke and fire can only reach a certain fear level. Normal
operations and daily tasks in and around the unit provide many opportunities
for CRM skills to be practiced. Teamwork. American culture, and others,
does not foster teamwork. The last area of improvement for all groups of
people working together is in CRM. It's amazing to me that we have lost true
teamwork concepts and are now redoing the basics. Can anyone imagine a B-17
formation not having good crew co-ordination and listening to "the people in
the back" ?. Have Fun Fly Safe Charlie
