Hi Ben and CRMers,

We try and base our LOFT scenarios on actual events that have been experienced by our line crews. This adds authenticity in the
debriefing. I was challenged at a check pilot meeting early on in the program that the scenario we were running and the check
pilot had just flown was unrealistic and far too demanding. The fact that both legs in the scenario were actual line events took
the wind out of his sails and strengthened the program in the eyes of the attendees.

This is all to say that introducing error into the LOFT scenario has to happen as a natural consequence of the events rather than
be designed into the script. Our philosophy of not trying to "'catch out the players"' aids in the buy-in by the crews. I suggested
that we run a parallel study to the one done by Nadine Starter on the A320. However the idea wasn't acted upon by the Chief
Instructor for this very reason.

Cheers Norm
