Thanks for the opinions

I want to thank all who offered their opinions of the student's checkride
. I, too, thought that the scoring of the navigator as a solo act was
inappropriate; this was a crew coordination problem. There had been no crew
debriefing by this crew, which is unfortunate.

It may interest you to know, the grade of the flight evaluation changed
over the weekend. The student had to report for "corrective action" on
Saturday. The corrective aciton was to be two hours of instrument approach
procedures discussions. While that was discussed, his instructor and some
others spoke with him on the events of the checkride. On Sunday, he received
a call to visit with the commander of the unit commander. During this visit,
the commander overturned the grade to a "Q-", meaning that the student was not
marginal overall, but had made an error in procedures. The student is happier
with this grade, as it is more in line with what had happened.

Thanks to all who discussed the issue. I thought it also showed how
"standard" the values of aviators around the world can be. Whoops, there's
that culture thing.
