I certainly don't mean to suggest that CRM as now taught is
non-professional. Just the opposite. CRM is expected of the professional
and new hires need to see it in that context. The part of the program that
tries to put the class in the shoes of real people who have had real life
problems needs to stay in the courses, but the notion that CRM keeps you
from ever having an incident or accident just doesn't wash anymore. CRM is
an effective component of an ooperational error management program, not a
panacia. Hence the change in emphasis.
