About the UAL 232.Flight........
=20
Firts of all, I believe we are not here to judge crews on their =
behavior. In the contrary; we are here to learn of actions taken from =
crews during the events of emergencies and procedures used to handle =
them.
=20
Second. Crew behavior is not predictable or even in some cases =
learned. Sometimes the same CRM instructors make mistakes, is that bad? =
Well NO, because behavior, attitude, and judgement is inherited from =
youth and goes along with the personality. Therefore; sometimes is not =
easy to practice what we learn in a CRM because the same instructors may =
not actually practice what they preach.
=20
I believe the UAL 232 crew did an excellent job. =20
=20
Reasons
=20
a.. The crew did not think twice to get the instructor from the =
passenger cabin to the cockpit. (very admirable, most pilots still have =
the macho attitude)=20
b.. They allowed the instructor to give his point of view (3 brains =
think better than two)=20
c.. The captain never forgot he was the Commander and always made =
tha last decision to be taken.=20
d.. Even though, the outcome was not 100%, I do admire them. Not =
for being named national heroes, but because the outcome was supposed to =
be 0
=20
What ever crews do under those sircumstances where an aircraft is =
almost uncontrollable Everything Goes.
=20
As we can see after it all. No one has been able to come up with a =
better aoutcome in the sim. Not even the same crew that actually knew =
exactly what went on in that cockpit.
=20
The only thing that matters is that WE as crew members give our 100% =
at all times, keep our situational awareness up and fly as safe as we =
can.
=20
Thanks!!!!
