If it is any consolation, the weather in Scandinavia is the same as in Buenos Aires. Welcome, brother in rain....... ;)
You mentioned the "speedy approach through bad weather". There is an excellent article in the August issue of AOPA Pilot p 105 ff where a Southern Airways DC 9 is trying to force its way through a severe thunderstorm, back in 1977. There is a complete CVR transcript, and the interesting part is the role of the captain, who completely resigns initiative to his first officer, after having made the bad desicion to fly through the thunderstorm.
