I am sorry if I offended anyone with my cheeky comment. It was NOT meant to
be sexist or demeaning. My innocent comment was borne out of comments made
by the flight attendants (male and female) who did the courses with me who
thought the prospect of me explaining what I was doing bobbing around in a
pool in academic terms was quite amusing.
It was meant as a bit of fun from someone who works damned hard at
improving CRM and cabin safety, espcially 'down the back' of the aircraft.
When we stop having some fun doing what we are doing then I think the
enthusiasm will evaporate too. I know we are in a serious business, but I
have always found that performance is enhanced when people are having a
good time. Seeing as a lot of the work in this area is being done unpaid
then I don't think we should stop having a little fun.
Nevertheless, I apologise to those that were offended and hope my
explanation lets them know where I am really coming from.
