Alicia,
We have developed a recurrent training module for combined crews. It takes
approximately 4 hours to conduct and is designed to fit into the " extra half
day" that some companies have after the traditional recurrent module. Our
course focuses on: 1) refresher on basics; 2) fatigue and diet disruption; 3)
in flight response to stress and threat. I'd be happy to discuss any of the
subjects.
Some difficulties that we've encountered so far...Our informal survey of
flight attendants indicates that they feel that their companies will not
spend additional money for their CRM recurrent if there's not a regulatory
requirement. Some of the more progressive major carriers and regionals
appear to be taking some steps toward including the cabin crew since they
realize that stress, threat, fatigue, etc. are not "pilot-only" issues.
Another apparent issue is if the cabin crew is paid for the extra training.
The JARs are going to require recurrent "combined" training in the future,
so the U. S. is not leading the way on the issue. Hopefully we'll catch up
soon!
Please contact me if I can provide you with any additional information.
