Hugo,
The program of certification is interesting. I would suggest you not
require the facilitator candidates to be "instructor pilots". Instructor
pilots usually are very good with technical training, but they have a hard
time listening to students. They are comfortable in small group settings,
and even in a lecture format with other pilots. They usually need some
coaching to facilitate opinions from other crewmembers.
While our crews are made up of only 2/5 pilots, the non-pilots have been
the better facilitators. I have no hard "emperical data", but the pilots
who are qualified PICs but not instuctors do quite well. Also, the
non-pilots often succeed better that pilots, and of the few women who have
attended our CRM facilitator training, they do better in the "teach-back"
sessions.
A female navigator, and a female pilot who also serves as a commercial
flight attendent have made the top of the list. And a non-aviator technician
of enlisted rank still holds the highest closed-book exam score on the
course.
Don't close the door on the crewmembers who want to help, whatever their
skill.
