Incapacitation Training

The reference to crew incapacitation and CRM reminds me of an experience we
had during a recent flight test certification activity. Demonstration of
acceptable crew workload with a flight crew incapacitation is one of the
required test scenarios for air transport cockpit modifications. Our
observation team (both FAA and applicant) was quite surprised to learn that
in most cases none of the line pilots being used for the evaluation had ever
practiced a crew incompacitation during a LOFT. The subject only seemed to
come up in the classroom.
Shortly thereafter, one of the evaluation pilots (who happens to fly for a
major airline) called to tell me about an actual incapacitation on one of his
flights due to food poisoning. He said that our cert eval had fortunately
been a real "eye-opener" for him because flying a two-pilot air transport
like a single-seater can indeed be a real challenge if one is not prepared.
Are you airline CRMers including incapacitation in your LOFT training?
