Thanks for your support. Your concern about the training environment is
registered. I contain all training routines within pre- and post-
testing-for-effectiveness prescriptions, which ought to control any ill
effect. On the other hand, my flying career has included many challenges
which demanded 'unguided discovery-type learning' with limited time
available for resolution and no option to decline. I think autodidact
skills are handy. They are even more valuable when the individual
accepts the personal responsibility to do it properly. This may be a
peculiarly Australian need as there is so much solo, unsupervised,
flying in our remote areas that the only hope for safety regulation is
self-regulation.
