Bob,
You may want to talk to Raimund. He is part of the ongoing development,
training & usage of a HUG system developed for the Canadair Region Jet. They
do manual Cat III in a subsidiary of Lufthansa. He might know what they are
required to do for JAR Ops. Sorry, no e-mail as yet.

Subject: Advanced Flight Deck Technologies

In flight test, we are beginning to see an increasing migration of advanced
flight deck technologies into other than air transport category aircraft.

For example, HUDs which were originally certified for use in Part 121
operations are now being proposed for Part 91 ops. Since 121 operators must
have established training programs that require flight crews to demonstrate
proficiency with specific devices, there is a focus for any issues relating
to
sufficient experience or demonstration of proficiency with such
sophisticated
systems. However, Part 91 ops do not have such a regulatory requirement.

Have any of you who are involved with ensuring pilot proficiency encountered
this as an issue yet? If so, what have been your observations? Thanks.
