Laurie,

Regarding your concern for the minimal response to your posting. Your
posting approaches the subject of cabin-crew communication in such a broad
manner, I am led to believe that you are starting at "square one".

Perhaps one of the reasons you received a light response to your posting is
because your proposed effort appears to be very broad in scope and
duplicates existing research for the purpose of "keeping boredom at bay."
We are all very busy with our development work at our various organizations
so if the objective of your posting is to do a little basic inquiry to keep
boredom at bay, many simply do not have the additional time to respond to
postings that do not extend the body of existing knowledge or practice. If
you are proposing research to extend the current body of knowledge in this
area or to move toward developing a useful product, then I think you will
find developers more than willing to contribute.

As you know, one of the first parts of any good research effort is a good
literature review. There have been some excellent discussions on the
listserv about cabin crew communication that are available on the listserv
website archive. There has also been some excellent work by Rebecca Chute
and Earl Wiener in the area of cabin crew communication.

If you zero-in on a particular aspect of cabin-crew communication after
reviewing the current literature and discussions, I think folks will be
happy to work with you to extend the knowledge or improve the practice in
cabin crew communication.

Best Regards,

Vince Mancuso, Ph.D.
