ATTITUDE? Absolutely! I'm sure many lengthy papers could be written on that
one subject. I'd like to toss out another subject related to "electric
jets." That is the one of Checklists. Most systems have emegency checklists
that come up from the Fault Warning Computer or some other generator. I think
that is progress having important information at hand during a critical
moment.
The aircraft I am associated with have avionics that have the capability to
have the checklist modules customized. This includes a Normal Operations
Checklist. I assume that the MD-11and 767/757 types have simular options. Do
you think that these type of electronic NORMAL OPERATIONS checklists have
value or can they be a distraction?
( e.g. more heads down time). Do they cause increased or reduced crew
workloads? Does a paper or mechanical Normal checkslist provide better SA by
not having to be "toggled" as it is read? Can we live with a "steam gauge"
procedure in a glass aircraft? I'd be interested to hear what you think on
this one.
Thanks,
John
