>When someone offers to provide a resource (such as Key Dismukes' generous
>offer to provide copies of his work on LOFT Debriefing) please
>RESPOND TO THEM DIRECTLY VIA EMAIL, NOT TO THE WHOLE CRM MAILING LIST.
>We have over 250 members now, and in cases like this only one of them
>needs your address. This will reduce the number of emails each of us has
>to sort through on a daily basis.
The message didn't seem to have much effect, so one of our members suggested:
>even though you asked people to email Key directly for the LOFT
>reports, they are still sending it to the board, which makes me wonder if
>they know how to do it.... which maybe they don't...
So, being a professional flight crew trainer capable of teaching most
mortal humans the mysteries of navigating tons of metal through space-time,
I will conduct training...
OBJECTIVE: Given an email reader and an email message offering
valuable-CRM-resources-for-free, the CRM-DEVEL mailing list member will
send a request for the valuable-CRM-resources-for-free to the offeror
without impact on the other members of the CRM-DEVEL mailing list.
BACKGROUND: Not all email readers work the same, but most will
automatically assign an address in the TO: field when you REPLY to an
existing message. In the case of a message that has been received from the
CRM-DEVEL mailing list, it will usually put the address of the mailing list
there. If you want your reply to go to all 250+ members of the list, this
is very good and saves you a lot of work. But, if you only want your reply
to go only to the one person who has the valuable-CRM-resources-for-free,
this is bad. To get your email to go to the ONE AND ONLY person who can
get you the valuable-CRM-resources-for-free, follow these simple steps.
PROCEDURE: Please step into the email simulator for your LOE (Line-Oriented
Email) session.
1. After selecting REPLY on your email reader, check the TO: field.
2. If the TO: field contains the CRM-DEVEL address <crm-devel_at_db.erau.edu>,
replace
it with the address of the person offering the
valuable-CRM-resources-for-free.
In this example, that would be <kdismukes_at_mail.arc.nasa.gov>.
3. Check the CC: field too, because sometimes the CRM-DEVEL address can
sneek in
there. Erase it if it did.
Note: If you want to impress your Chief Pilot, Commander, Chief
Scientist, or
Professor with your ability to get free stuff, put *their* address
in
the CC: field.
4. Send the email, reveling in the knowledge that you will soon receive
valuable-CRM-resources-for-free delivered to your door.
EVALUATION: We will know that the training is successful when all requests
for Key's valuable-CRM-resources-for-free go directly to Key.
BEHAVIORAL MARKER: The list member does not share requests for
valuable-CRM-resources-for-free with 250+ fellow professionals. The list
member feels REALLY BAD if they do it inadvertently.
BOOMERANGS: Anyone who consistently fails this evaluation will be subject
to extreme peer pressure to buy a round of drinks FOR THE ENTIRE CRM-DEVEL
MAILING LIST at the social in Columbus, Ohio on 27 April!
Any questions? ;-)
