Psychology and others can't answer those questions about men and women on
the simplest of teams: a married couple! I don't know that we ever will
because all people are diverse. There is hope though. Within the required
and defined tasks a crew must perform it is possible to quatify individual
differences in relation to set task. How those differences arise as
variables in performance is any ones guess: lack of motivation, training,
experience a bad hair day or what ? It fun though. I always remember that
these differences are NOT limited to flight deck operations they are
everywhere. It's just that aviation has had the courage to pick away at
managing human error. Other professions seem to ignore these errors and we
pay the price. Welcome to aviation and good luck at Ohio. Good skills work
better than luck.
